Help with reading a meter bill

"Panel Heaters" are slim wall-mounted heaters, akin to a Storage Heater without the bricks to store heat. So only provide heat when they are powered, a bit like an old-fashioned electric fire but in a metal case

Need help with what amp fuse this plug socket would be

Hi MooCow They're not very tolerant here of confused posts :-( "plug socket"- it's either a plug, or it's a socket, not both. Or as Dave says, it's a FCU. "the fuse has tripped" - fuses blow, and have to be replaced. Breakers trip, and can be reset to On. But before any fuse replacement...

    Adding Addition Batteries

Bottom battery looks to be at 100%, the rest at about 66%. Switch off the lowest battery and switch on again when the rest are at 100%. Power cables to the inverter should be short ones from the top battery. How are you ventilating the cabinet ?

    Downstairs Mains RCBO Tripping

The premise is that the outdoor lights are powered from the B6 MCB, third to the right of the RCCB. Does that actually switch off those outside lights? Are the outside lights still on with the Downstairs Sockets RCBO tripped ? Have you tried turning the RCBO on with every MCB turned off on the...

    Greetings from a mere mortal

Welcome. The more you read on this site, the more you will morph from a mere mortal to a Zeus-like figure with short-circuit arcs firing from you fists. Just warning you.......

    Electrical Supply and who’s responsible?

"The main supply comes into a 60amp isolator then the tails run up 2 floors into the flat , connect into a smart meter then into the consumer unit." Where is the 60A fuse in this chain ?

    Adding Addition Batteries

Still believe it's worth putting each battery to charge on its own to max, using a Time of Charge setting on the inverter. Then connect together.

    Hello all ...

I'm also ex BBC Engineering and I look back 20 years at my first attempts at home wiring with disapproval. It was not knowing best practices and no internet to consult - the correct wiring size, the correct "fuse" ratings, which junction boxes etc.. So lurking in my previous houses there will be...

"My oven smells of grim cheese when I use it"

So experts, should that have been a crimped lug connection ?

    Beko Oven tripping RCD

"it tripped the RCD electric board." So did the RCD on the board trip ? Or did the individual MCB for the cooker trip ? A MCB tripping is a sign of a short-circuit. The RCD tripping is a sign of Earth Leakage. Try switching off all the other MCBs that RCD feeds.

Ring or spur, no, it's a debate about AFDD's

Is there any advantage in making this a ring back to the fuse box when it's on a spur from the house? I believe that he wants to add more sockets to the spur in the garage, and extend the last socket back to the fuse box in the garage, to make it a ring ?

    RCD trip flagged by EICR

"Socket behind TV causes RCD to trip " You mean the RCD in the Consumer Unit ? It was only the electricians that made it trip, you haven't had it trip when you use the TV ?

    Changed bathroom pull switch

My shower room pull switch stopped turning the lights on a few weeks ago. I dismounted the switch off the ceiling and found a loose connection. Tightened, now working.

    Aircon pipes spanner size

Forgot to mention. The aircon can only be operated with the remote control. The buttons on the supplied remote were different to the image in the User Manual. I sent images of both to the Help Line. They sent four different PDF manuals, none of which matched my remote - useless. Finally admitted...

    Aircon pipes spanner size

The aircon is installed and running. I shortened the outside copper pipes and flared the ends with a £15 brake pipe flaring kit. Used Nylog on the flares. As someone predicted earlier, the compression joints were four different spanner sizes from 15mm up to 20mm. That's on two 1/4" pipe joins...

    Aircon pipes spanner size

I'm in the UK Electriq spec says: "Contains everything you need for installation, does not require installation by an F-Gas registered engineer or specialist equipment"

Shortening the supplied Pre-Charged Split Aircon copper pipes.

What I'd like to do is have the correct amount of gas in the system. Too much or too little and performance suffers.. But sounds like there is some wiggle-room if the pipes are shortened.

Shortening the supplied Pre-Charged Split Aircon copper pipes.

Good thought, I'll try them. The pipework to the indoor unit isn't precharged. In fact it has to be vacuum pumped before connecting to the outside unit where the charge has been preloaded
