    Arrg.. Building Control...

Hi Having completed the wiring up and install of the new bathroom electrics ( http://www.talk.electricianforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=4978 ), I call in a local electrician so he can see the wires and installation before I board it all up, he is more than happy that I know what I am doing (with...

Thanks! The nasty joints absolutley not mine - pictures fixed for avoidance of doubt! Actually they are part of the UFH which is to be decommisioned - though I did take a look under the nasty, goopy, sticky tape and they are decent looking crimps. Puppy ran off with the plastic blanking plate...

    Basic bathroom question...

So I aquired an Eaton MEM 6A RCBO (not cheap!) from a local Newey+Eyre which fitted perfectly into the CU, wired up all the JBs, isolator, fan and lights. Just need to finish wiring the switches and give it a test. Getting it checked on Fri. BCO at the same time probably. Thanks for the help...

Can you just mount one motion detector (with timer) that looks through the gates at the drive area, therefore triggered either by the movement of the gates or the movement in the drive area?

Sorry meant natural gas not LPG! Do I still need to worry about the 65 degs if it is just circulating water/inhibitor through a heatstore? Thanks! Paul

    Starting from scratch!

Thanks, I had looked at GSHP last year but ROI was too long, ASHPs seems to have got a lot better over the last year or so and with a COP of 3-4 brings it down to Gas prices for running, I had forgotten about that so thanks I will investigate. JL -from what you are saying the store is a good...

Hi When I finish the bathroom project I will be looking at heating and DHW options for our 1960's ("DIY built") bungalow so would appreciate any opinions and ideas please! Basics: About 145m2 no mains gas (not an option) presently original electric UFH, according to labels 415V - not tested...

    Hi All

Oh yes, big yellow b***grs! Invariably ended up trying to stuff 325A shorepower cable into a 60A plug - Every port had a different plug, phases/E/N always wired differently, never enough juice and always running round the boat turning off the jacuzzis and recording studio feeds... A few...

    Basic bathroom question...

Yep, having just opened it up a few days ago (not been in long), I was thinking about upgrading it to a 17th edition box. As you can see it is reasonably neat, I moved everything up one space to creat the double gap. BTW, The cooker, hob and immersion heaters (x 2) are in 2 other seperate CU...

    Basic bathroom question...

Hi Thanks for the feedback.. The 32A RCD feeds via a 6A MCB - 32A seems to be the smallest RCD commonly available. The CU is a MEM "Memera 2000". An RCBO is a great idea, I have only seen them double height which I am not sure will fit, double width like an RCD is no problem so I will have a...

    Basic bathroom question...

Hi Deke Yep, as per diagram the fan is switched by the same loop as the main light (80w light), no seperate isolator though - do I need one? - no overrun as there is an opening window. No, the ring mains are connected directly to RCDs, no MCB's involved, hence assuming that it was Ok to run...
