    Oceangate

I hope they get rescued. The problem is it is unregulated so rules don’t apply. My feelings are people should leave the Titanic alone as it is a grave. I worked on the project when Bob Ballard discovered it in the 80’s and a plaque was left saying RIP and you will not get disturbed again...

    Odd one

I find it good to put a difficult fault aside (unless dangerous), re group and re think and go back With a fresh approach.

    Odd one

I agree with an earlier post. Sounds like a blanked over/hidden socket possibly with a neon which is energising under test.

RCBO tripping problem that I cannot get to the bottom of.

I had a very similar problem, it turned out to be a laptop power supply, even though the laptop was not connected. It was class 2 and obviously had 2 core from the plug. The Megger DCM305 found the issue (brilliant bit of kit). unplugged power supply all went away.

    Earth rods

When you checked the Ze did you isolate the supposedly incoming earth from the rod before checking, and are you sure it is the earth from the rod and not a water or gas bond cable?

    Garden water features tripping rdc

A lot of pond pumps are double insulated with no earth. I have had this with a single pump. I dismantled the impeller section cleaned it reassembled it and it was fine. I can’t see how you can do an insulation test on a double insulated pump. As Special Location said it's possibly going to...

    Maximum Demand exceeded

A very good and thorough report. My only question would be, what happens in extreme and high days and Hollidays (say Christmas) when the load could be excessive as a one off? I agree with the introduction of LED and more economic appliances, the loading will improve on a day to day basis, but...

    Upstairs Lighting Not Working

Check the screws are not tightened onto the insulation, also check that the black (live in brown terminal) goes to the same red as in the same twin cable.

Help IR testing lights with fault which are connected

As mentioned earlier. There is no need for insulation test. If the trip is going strait out, it’s a short and ordinary dead testing with a multi meter (with lamps in circuit) will locate the problem!

It only worked on 4 & 5G phones as 3G is being phased out. “3” had a few problems as well.

Developing a Tool for Post-Soldering Insulation

I can see where you are coming from, insulating the joint/connection, but particular attention needs paying to the adhesive in particular. There have been to many cases where, after time it breaks down with age or heat, eventually becoming conductive. If this is on a board with other...

Perhaps it’s a loop through, feeding another fitting! if you disconnect it it won’t have power on it.

    Light fitting wiring help

Is there a second light fitting in the hall? If so, probably Black and blue together, Red and Yellow with red sleeve together and the two earths together. Those three connect to the light.
