Electrical Installation Condition Report - Help!

£100 is cheap for what you have asked. Did you get any other quotes?  Always a good idea to get a few.  I would guess at a at a more realistic price being around the 150 mark and about 3 hours work.

Electrical Installation Condition Report - Help!

The million dollar question is how much did the report cost.  What won the job?  Was it cost or competence?  If it was anything from £50 - £100 you got the report you paid for.

Electrical Installation Condition Report - Help!

You cannot say that.  The bonding could be a right mission and the client may want it all hidden. I would C2 it only in exceptional circumstances such as disabled or elderly owners that could be putting themselves at risk with a complete power failure.  Very very exceptional but not off the...

Electrical Installation Condition Report - Help!

    1. It should refer to bonding not earthing. If this is missing it should be a C2. Unless testing has proved bonding is there but it cannot be accessed then C3.  2. All circuits are RCD protected so this is not required.  3. A 2.5 radial should have no larger than a 20A fuse protecting it. As...

Unenclosed live connections above light fittings

You will not be signing for the install or the design will you.  Just because you carry out the testing does not relieve the designer or the installer of their responsibilities.   Plus you do not sign to say it is 'safe'  You sign to say that you have tested it and inspected it and to the best...

A bit dramatic mate.  Do you know how many electricians have been prosecuted for manslaughter ever?  None! I think you will be ok with this.

Unenclosed live connections above light fittings

I am almost certain that fitting is supposed to be flush mounted.  The install guys have ballsed up.  Get em back in.

I must have got it wrong. Apologies. I thought the MCBs/RCBOs said SBS on them. Sorry if I got the wrong end of the stick.

Electrical Small Kitchen and Home Appliances

I am sure someone would not go to the extent to divert their IP address so as to post on a DIY/Elec forum. Even without doing this - the last time I check d my IP address it had me in Milton Keynes. Well I am at least 2.5 hours away from there. No spoofing required.

    A board I wouldn't use again .

As I said earlier. The work is very neat. I would just change that aspect of it. Almost anything I do when someone else looks at it could be improved. I don't get defensive. I listen and take it on board.  I wont be descoobing anyone. I would rather post my dislike and stand by my comment.  As...

    A board I wouldn't use again .

Since you asked. In my opinion they look untidy and could be improved from a workmanship view point. I would have also considered using stuffing glands instead of those holes.  I was was unsure about the earth link so I asked. I would rather by and fit a CU that did not need a sparks earth link...

I find this kind of stuff nonsense to be honest

So the gas regs supersede BS7671 as they are law and 7671 is not. So putting anything less than a 10mm means you are breaking the law?  Correct?

I find this kind of stuff nonsense to be honest

If the gas regs state a min 10mm and it turns out it is only a 6mm that gas installation is not to their regs.  The gas regs are a BS so should be followed.  As 10mm is a minimum then it is going over and above what BS7671 states in certain circumstances.  There are many examples of this where...

    Setting up on your own

Almost correct - Only if the company you are subbing for is also registered as a CIS contractor can they deduct CIS tax.  For example - if you subbied for a company that never done construction work then they would not be able to deduct you anything.   If you do not receive a remittance for the...

I find this kind of stuff nonsense to be honest

They can specify what size they want. They are the gas regs NOT electrical regs so who gives a tosh. The question is which Standards supersedes the other. If neither does then it must be a minimum 10mm as stated in The British Standard.

I would not allow them earths to stay like that personally but the rest of the job is very neat.  Also so is that earth link between the two earth bars a factory fitted one or one that has to be installed by the Sparks?

    Fixed bases connectors

Then you would assume, quite wrongly I imagine that this was an aggressive arguement. I am sorry you are incapable of a grown up arguement in which two adults converse sensibly but have opposing views. See point 2 below: argument ˈɑːɡjʊm(ə)nt/ noun 1.  an exchange of diverging or opposite...
