    VSD Cable question

The VSD and drive motors are all supplied from the parlour company and have been fitted before so I assume they are all compatible. What I have also learned is they go through motor overloads first which I haven’t seen before, usually it’s drive to motor with nothing in between. I also assumed...

After speaking with one of the parlour fitters technical guys we’ve agreed on leaving the armour in, Earth at both ends (which it would have been anyway) and using foil wrapped SY from drive to overload box and from isolator to motor lol I’ve used armour and SY before in the same combination...

    Water heater question.

Each phase has 3 x 2kw elements attached to it so in my mind it was simple P=I/V I = P/V 6000/230 = 26.08A Which then let to me thinking each phase passing it’s current back through a common neutral which left me with 78.26A to return down the neutral line, but now that it all works out as a...

    Water heater question.

Yeah they all come on together. I assumed since it was effectively 3 x 2kw elements lumped together you’d get neutral current

    C2 or C3

Are you actually serious?! You’re correcting the fact that he called it “a hoover”. I bet your a rare laugh down the “public house” For the fact that, from the OP it sounds like it’s been a socket fitted out in the hall it’s not likely to have heavy loaded appliances plugged into then it...

    Codebreakers book

That’ll be a no to buying it then 😂😂 I agree, you need years of experience to do EICR’s. Especially to deal with older installations, but how do you gain experience without a guide?

How to get a copy of certificate

Why does the customer need to learn? Yes you are correct, the customer expects us to be experts however I’ve never came across someone who didn’t think I knew what I was doing simply because I called it a fuseboard instead of a consumer unit. I’m there to install circuits, fault find or...

How to get a copy of certificate

I still come across lots of fuse boards in continued use and will likely continue to do so for some time. I also find it easier to ask customers about their “fuse board, fuse box, trip box, breaker board” because that’s what people understand. Why do you need to correct people about it?
