    Quick question about fuse box

I was taught the reason for terminating all conductors to earth is to kill any induced voltage that might be on the redundant circuit and under certain fault conditions prevent them from becoming live.

    Quick question about fuse box

Best practice would be to label the cables and connect them to earth.

    Non Harmonised colours

There was a period in telecoms where blue and black were used on negative DC systems but I've only seen a few installations with it in those colours.

    Domestic electrics

I apologise for my terminology but in my defence I am a bit of an idiot.

    Domestic electrics

Surge protection is required at the supply point of entry to the building. So one DB feeding another would only need surge protection in the first one. If the tails were split into Henleys then I would have a separate surge protector to protect the installation.

    Windows 11

My motherboard and chipset is not compatible although it is a good gaming system, just looked at upgrading the board and chipset and there's nothing available in my price range due to the chipset shortage. Looks like a lot of people are upgrading at the minute, someone somewhere is rubbing their...

    When is Green not Green?

I looked into buying an electric van but to even out the costs between ICE and electric I would need to be doing 50K miles a year for five years to break even. And that doesn't include recharge times adding to my daily trip if I can find an available charger where I would be working. My local...

How would a sparky hide cables from CU to the outdoor EV charger?

What size EVCP are you considering installing and where is your consumer unit?

Adding non protected MCB to a duel RCD board

What is the intended use of the garage? A couple of sockets and a light for basic use or something more akin to a DIY workshop/minibar/sauna?

Automated Gates - Arm Connection Issue - Help Urgently needed

That's a lot of weight you've added to the system and the angles are off increasing the strain on the motors and arms, you've quite possibly exceeded the design limits on the system. Added to that a solid gate will also be affected  by wind. As others have pointed out, there's a lot of safety...

Is it ok to join alarm cable

I'd use closed end wire splices and a small junction box. Plenty of crimp style ones on eBay and Amazon that are cheap enough and suitable for your application.

    EICR c1 and c2

If a company advises before they visit the property that the installation will fail due to it's age I would suggest you don't consider using them. If you post your location up we could recommend someone in the area that will give you a fair and unbiased report.

    Fuse/Socket Question?

The socket will require RCD protection. Also the circuit may well be wired in 1.0mm cable which is not suitable for a power circuit such as this. So that's a no from me.

Wiring a coffee shop on a bicycle !

Wire it up using a standard BS1363 plug. Also supply a short extension that has both 16 and 32 amp commando plugs to allow for variation in supplies. Similar to this set up:

    Where is the power going?

The solar invertor shutting down during mains fail is a normal operation. It's a safety feature to stop power being back fed into the supply network and engineers may well be working on the supply cables which must be dead.

Petition for Government to allow Electricians to pull DNO Fuse

Should be a requirement that an isolator is fitted whenever the meter or DNO service head are worked on, not as if there's no meter roll outs happening at the minute...

Wooden Shed and how to proceed TT or not

I'd just leave it on the RCBO. You don't mention how the cable supplying the socket is installed as this has a bearing  as well. I would just leave it connected to the existing earthing arrangement.
