Is this cable in a dangerous state / against regulations?

We have finished a 3 year house building project, with a brilliant builder & a very good team. The only weak link has been his electrician. We moved into the property last July, with the Electric certifications followed soon after. Since then though, we have a dispute over some outside lights...

    Swap dial thermostat to Heatmiser?

Thanks poni, II replaced the dial thermostat and confirmed that I havnt damaged anything, and it still works and activates the heating! Heatmiser stat looks to be OK, I'll try and reverse the grey and black. I thought grey is neutral and black switched live though?

    Swap dial thermostat to Heatmiser?

We have a Heatmiser zoned UFH throughout our new build property, and then a couple of radiators in the attached garage (for possible conversion should we require it). Builder's electrician installed a dial/rotary thermostat (Honeywell T6360B 1036) but I would like to change this stat to a...

Outside lights, controlled via PIR with override switch & timer?

Thank you very much again john! There are 2 x 3 core going to the timer install location (next to fuse box), which I am lead to believe connect back to the switches which currently control the lights... but he is being so obtuse over it all I can't get my head around it.... The chapter & verse...

Outside lights, controlled via PIR with override switch & timer?

Thank you so much John!!...so just so i can layman's explain it to my builder, the T with the circle in it in line with the L & N.... can you provide me an idiots guide to that? That's to power the timer to keep it 'permanent live'.....then the timer when 'on' powers the in line timer switch...

Outside lights, controlled via PIR with override switch & timer?

Sorry John, my electrician is claiming the previous diagram you kindly shared doesn't make sense to him '' & his mate agreed ''. He is using this with my builder (contracted) to complicate/avoid the timer installation..... for reasons I have no idea of! Builder has repeatedly shown himself to...

Outside lights, controlled via PIR with override switch & timer?

Electrician continues to question things, but for my idiots proof response to him, I presume the below would work fine? :( :( PIR can be turned on/off via switch to enable/disable it controlling lights Timer can be turned on/off via switch to enable/disable it controlling lights If both are...

Outside lights, controlled via PIR with override switch & timer?

Thank you for the continued help...I have made it complex, but when it is your 'forever home' (a new build) I have thought long & hard about how things can work to cover as many eventualities as possible. It is indeed having the timer and switch/PIR working independent of each other. So the...

Outside lights, controlled via PIR with override switch & timer?

Thank you VERY much all, and John for sketching it out. I have forwarded your drawing to him, I now await his response! I will update this post accordingly.... :)

Outside lights, controlled via PIR with override switch & timer?

It's an either or type turn on for the lights. Ie.... Timer is set and turns lights on every morning for an hour and ever evening. And/or if the switch is 'on', and we drive back home middle of the night, then PIR turns lights on for us. Seperate to this, if the switch is 'off'.... 1)...

Outside lights, controlled via PIR with override switch & timer?

Morning all, sorry to post again but electrician is due back tomorrow and I'd like to suggest to him a resolution from the help you guys have given! Just as per above, could John's drawing work for the timer to override the switch/PIR setup that is installed & working currently? We have a 3...

Outside lights, controlled via PIR with override switch & timer?

Thank you all, Electrician is a good guy but its a very complicated 4 way switch controlling 3 lots of external lighting which all have PIR's as well all contained in the back box....how he can make sense of it I don't know!! Ideally I would like the timer to over ride the switch if possible...

Outside lights, controlled via PIR with override switch & timer?

Hi, We have some outside lights which are successful controlled via 2 x PIR sensors. One that covers you as you step outside the front door and one around the other side of the house where you drive into the driveway. We also have a switch by the front door for us to turn the PIRs 'on' (they...

Timed switch/automatic shut off light switch, with L1, L2 and Com?

Thanks poni, I presume because we have 2 x switches then the PIR, ideal being one is a time lagged switch (what I'm looking for) wired into a normal switch ("manual On") then the PIR. Just a time lag switch away from my vision of it working perfectly! Until then... Garage lights left on from...

Timed switch/automatic shut off light switch, with L1, L2 and Com?

We have a light switch for our garage in our corridor (before you open the door & enter garage), as well as a PIR. Idea being as you drive in/walk in the PIR turns the lights on. We also had a second light switch (intermediate) inside the garage. Problem we have is PIR has a few second delay...
