non registered self cert electrician and building control

Hello Slips, Thanks for that...As you can see the local authority talk in riddles!!! I spoke to the nice gentleman in charge and he told me "we are obliged to accept certificates as long as you can prove you are competant,17th edition, etc". I didn't argue that he had to accept my certs, I just...

non registered self cert electrician and building control

I have just been looking through the part P document again and it clearly states that if you are an electrician and competent you can do the install. Bloody councils, I guess I will need to have a barney with them tomorrow. I am all for protecting the general public but hey give us a break!!

    Ze Question again

That is true but it doesen't end at that point........... when you do your r1+r2 tests and add this to the DNO figure and you do your ZS tests shouldn't ZS be lower than the calculated ZS and if its not further investigate?(I really need to get my coat now:coat)

    Ze Question again

The approved method is by enquiry. This is usually higher than a measured value so unless you are struggling to get low enough ZS readings, I would use this value.(getting ready to duck:coat)

    Mercury tilt switch

I think the best advice would be to GIVE US A PHOTO. Have you tried disconnecting the switch and testing it for continuity? If you are really not confident I think its time for a visit from a electrician Blushing

    Ze testing

In this case it would be a no brainer for me.... preferred method in the big book is "by enquiry". Nuff said? When it comes to turning some equipment off the whinging will start never mind all of it off. Have funPray

    Method Statements

What I was trying to say was the job would be carried out to the requirements of the big book. Guidance note three is full of references to methods of testing, for instance 2.7.13 earth electrode testing fig 6 is this not a method? I do realise each job is different but I for one am not a...

    Method Statements

I personally would refer to the big book in the method statement something like.... PIR- The inspection process will be carried out using the guidelines outlined in BS7671 in particular guidance note 3. The method statement doesn't have to be a novel a few one liners are sufficient...

    RCD Prtection

As this is notifiable work why don't you land it on the nic/napit/elecsa or whoever and ask them for advice so you can give it to your client in writing if possible? If they won't see sense then go back to the nic etc and wait for the s**t to hit the fan. or......walk...
