Does anyone know the max current rating of the above, im looking at the regs bearing in mind its clipped direct in no insulation of any kind above a false ceiling in T+E

someone on a job i was on said that a 1.5mm can only take 14 amps :^O when its clipped through a false ceilign and they said i didnt know the regs and that beause i have worked on the circuit i had a duty of care and that i was a n*b head basically in front of a cartaker of a shcool,, but truth is hes made himself look like a right pratt now because the page where it states the sizes of cablke and current carying ampages are going to be plastered round the school tomoorw to help him remember what the true values are :^O :^O :^O :^O

i really dont know how hes can get all the electrics in a school when he doesnt know what max values are on each cable and hes installing all the electrics in there for the computers etc

i know my general cable ampages ratings reference c clipped direct though all approx

like 1mm is 15 amps

1.5mm is 19 amps

2.5 is 27

4mm is 37

6mm is 47

and 10mm is 65

16mm is 87

and 25mm is 114

and thats off the top of my head, all others but thats cause i use those sizes of cable every day of my life

Before calling any one a n*b head I would want my facts to be right, and if done in front of a third party I would hope the embarrasment would hurt when found out so you go get him Badger and stick one up for the forum.

You have all those cables on top of your head badge?

You are worrying me.

]:)

thanks green hornet i have the evidnce in front of me :^O

ME: well its like this m'lord, he insisted it could only take 14 amps, but it has later been found out that that particular cable in the way it is installed can actually take 19.5 amps,

JUDGE: and does this court have any further witnesses to these acusations?

ME: Yes M'lord i have a witness, Can you call the BS7671 to the stand, :^O

BS7671:2008: I hereby swear by almighty god that the truth i shall give will be the Truth, The whole Truth and nothing but the truth :^O

ME: BS7671 What ampage can 1.5mm Twin and Earth at a operating temperature of 70 degrees C take?

BS7671: If the cable is clipped direct Reference method C and does not get enclosed, is 19.5 amps not the current ampage that the other guy who doesnt know he ar*e from his hands :^O suggested 14 amps

ME: Thankyou BS7671 you may now stand down, :^O i hereby conclude that in fact m'lord 1.5mm Ref C clipped direct can in fact take 19.5 amps and a B type MCb where installed at 16amps is in fact perfectly within the regs with doub t.

Judge: I hereby find the other electrician Guilty as sin and ask that reads the REGULATIONS BOOK for the next 365 days from 17:00 hours till 07:00 hours until he learns what cable can take what

COURT DISMISSED :^O :^O :^O :^O :^O

:^O :^O:^O:^O:^O:^O:^O:^O:^O:^O:^O:^O:^O:^O:^O

Different temp? Is it not this that is different in BRB and OSG because of the temp expressed? I dunno - havn't a copy of either!

Nope same in both books

osg page 134

I didnt want Badger telling this guy hes wrong when actually they are both wrong.

Playing devils advocate, you said it was clipped direct (assuming to joists?) with less than 100mm of insulation (0 is less than 100) then it could be read as 100 not C. Could this be what he is trying to get at?

Ian.
