Builder phones this morning ...job we did 3 years ago ..guy is selling the house ...the extension was never passed off by LBC because theres no EIC .

Every job I give EIC to builder ( He who orders the work)

Builder phones back ...the guy's solicitor has the original EIC by me but won't give it to the the guy .(????!!!)

Builder phones back ... been on to LBC , they have no record of an EIC , the inspector had a copy ,what else are we supposed to do?

Did you register it online ?

Yes

Builder phones back ... guy has gone into panic mode ....can't sell his house , what can we do ?

I have a copy on my certs pad but they won't accept that I can promise you . I could test it again and issue another cert but would have to explain the delay of 3 years .

1600hrs Builder phones yet again .... LBC have found the notification from ELECSA and will now pass off the job.

Cripes!!

Not a help to you now, but it may help in the future.

When I notify to NICEIC their system generates a 'receipt number'.

I then give my 'job' that 'receipt number'...with me so far?

I then print out the entire screen and keep one copy and attach the other to the EIC. It is a bit belt and braces BUT I do not want a cook-up on their part to become a panic on my part.

the advantage of printing the screen is that it also shows the time and date that you made the submission!....neurotic?...Me?,,,,too fricking true.........I don't want someone trying to get me.......... :coat

Surely this shows a "flaw" in writing out certificates on a pad that creates a copy.

I don't do that. I type mine in a Word document based on a template I downloaded, and then tweaked a bit.

So if anyone comes along who has lost it, I just print another copy and sign it. No limit on how many times I can do that, and nothing to say it's a copy.

Unfortunatly I'm a bit of a Luddite, I didn't invent the damn system , I didn't ask for it, I didn't vote for it , it was forced upon me and I have to finance it , so I do what is asked and thats it .

Do it.

Test it.

Certify it.

Give cert. to he who ordered the work ( Usually Builder)

Notify it .

Paperwork no longer my problem.

Forget it .

I use Pirform and export my finished certs into a folder on my Mac as a .pdf. Pirform also saves a copy on the software. That way I always have duplicates available.......for a
