Hello, I recently replaced a 3kva transformer with a 5kva transformer on an American Motorhome. I would like to know if I reinstall the 3kva alongside the 5kva, can I wire them or switch them in series to enable a 3, 5 or 8 kva supply.

series would get you 220v... parallel could work if you get the conenctions right. if you dont, you will get a big bang and nothing will work

best just leave the 5kva alone. if you want 8kva, then use both but not connected together

Thanks for the input. I think what I meant when I said "in series" , I meant in parallel. Can you please give me any instruction in how I can achieve this.

I would caution against putting different make and / different sized transformers in parallel.

If the voltages are slightly different, you will get circulatiing currents, heat and ineficciency.

What do you really have in a motorhome that needs 8KVA?

unless voltages are identical & 0º apart, then you will get problems. but there is a 50/50 chance of you connecting it 180º apart...

and if you dont understand that, then leave it alone
