So im just wondering how in the hell do other people with these manage to keep something so small orgainised without having to throw stuff everywhere just to get one thing out.....or do i just need to get a bigger van. Have been thinking about a steel bulkhead and lining the back but if im still going to have issues getting things in and out may as well save the money for something abit more practical for my needs.

Jono I don't think what ever size van you have it will be big enough. I have quite a large van but even that becomes messy at times.

Jono,

Why do you think I went from a Transit Connect LWB High Roof, to a Transit Jumbo High Roof!

It was via the small Caddy you saw, but that was an aside due to technical issues!

Jono, I had a berlingo as a works van for a couple of years,

a bulkhead will be a nightmare, NOTHING will fit, I had my steps on a bracket to the roof and they went over the passenger seat,

the van would be fine for purely domestic, but as soon as I had even a small ind/com job I had to empty it to get my vice/bender in and change my toolboxes over.

some shelving and extremely good housekeeping are deffo required for such a van if you do different types of work, if you mainly/only do domestic then it is probably viable.

as an aside, you can get 2x lengths of 40mm worktop in if you cut down to 2800, or 2 full 3m lengths of 4" soil pipe inside, or, an R6 and an NC35 motorbike and a tool chest :D , but that was a tight squeeze :|

I had a berlingo & boy did I struggle with the lack of space......end of the road came when I had to empty it to get some kit out & it was slinging it down with rain.........

Now my trafic gets just as full, but at least I an get inside when its raining to find kit thats buried.

I recently started at the beginning of the year with an old fiat fiorino, looks similar to a berlingo but way way bigger inside, then got an old Y [01] scudo a couple of months ago, needed a small bit of work but Ive now got 12months test and 6 months tax on and in total under a grand, it depends on your budget TBH,

in honesty Im hoping to get something a bit newer come August/Sept time and Im hoping to go for another scudo/variant, due to the mpg being good and I find it a decent size of middle van.

Berlingo was fine up until a few weeks ago now as most of my work is commercial/small ind and im having to carry gear to sort anything from light fittings to a leaking roof, just an absolute nightmare trying to get anything out nevermind in...

I like the Scudo but most newer ones are slightly out of my price range at the moment may look at something along the lines of a dispatch although a bigger connect would probably suffice.

arent they the same van?

connects are deceivingly small for what they look like, even the LWB one, IMHO, I thought about that but my plumber mate has one and I deffo couldnt use one.

I have a kangoo. Van is a complete tip, too small to keep tidy, especially when u want to get home and have no time to put all gear back exactly where it came from!

Lame excuse, time is infinite, no excuse for not keeping van tidy. An organised. An makes the job much easier as you dont get cheeses off when it takes half hour to find what you need. :red card

So after carrying some 2440mm long sheets of chipboard in the van today(thank god for the fold flat passenger seat) its quite apparent that a bulkhead isnt a option so it will have to be a case of getting a bigger van at some point in the future. Sure there will be another thread then as i try to decide exactly which....So to make myself feel better i treated myself to some more tools i may need one day....maybe 2 spear and jackson saws for a tenner bargain!
