230v in a camper van

quick question not 100% sure but when having 230v sockets in a vw camper van do you need to bond the earth to the shell of the van like you would with the negative on the DC side of things?

Half of me thinks you should incase of a fault to stop the van becoming live and half of me thinks not incase it affects the dc circuits somehow

 
Most definitely yes. Bonding of the vehicle structure to earth AND an RCD are mandatory things for electric hookups in caravans (both motorised and trailer are covered by the same regs)
