wondering if any one can help me with a few questions?

1) a repair has been carried out on a radial circuit and tests are being undertaken. State

a)how compliance of test results is confirmed?

b)what action would be taken if any of the results are non-compliant?

c)the documentation to be completed and issued to the client?

some answers would be much appreciated

1)tested to comply with bs7671:2008 by. Checking bgb or onsite guide

2) notification to client if unsafe it needs to be isolated / made safe straight away

3) minor works cert

Dave, you would earn yourself ALOT more respect here if you attempt to answer your question yourself first, an added bonus would be you explaining how you come to the conclusion of each question you wish to ask.

Dave A; yes as Zee has said, have a go at answering the question.

I have marked a few of these papers in my time and you could not

expect me to give you the answers but I would certainly give you

pointers.

1a) think about equipment vulnerable to testing after installation/repairs.

Complete loss of power at origin; three phase symmetrical faults or

single line faults, Motor contactors; how do they work?

read about circuit breakers and their mode of operation, in particular

about what might happen if there is a massive fault current that causes it

to operate.

Welcome to the forum Dave A. Whilst you may think it is cool, many members who have already had to put in the study and the work to pass these exams may consider it rather lazy for someone just to ask to be spoon fed answers. One of the functions of the forum is to help and discuss problems, but it has been proven that just spoon feeding answers is not much help to anyone. They have to be able to grasp the reason why an answer is what it is. If you cannot understand the reasons, you will not be able to answer similar but differently worded questions in a real exam. In view of your comment that you do have other questions, it may be best for you to get your books together and have a go at suggesting what you think an answer should be first. Then other more experience electricians can help point you in the right direction. Otherwise people could be giving up their own time posting answers that are still way above your head. I have merged your similar question threads together rather than cluttering with multiple questions. Also It has been moved to the more appropriate correct student area.

Well i think if you are told the answers you will not pass the exam anyway as you won't remember. Its a while since i did any studying apart from 17th edition course and we always had notes to look at. What sort of course has no books or notes.

When answering questions at level 3 points are always awarded

even if the answer is incomplete but the candidate has gone some

of the way to a complete answer.

If there is a question on inspection and test full marks are given if

the candidate uses "Schedule of inspections" and "Schedule of test

results".

If the candidate states "a list of things examined" and "reads off the

multimeter" you can imagine what impact this will have on the final

mark.

I stress that marks are easily picked up with good sketches, clear

labelling, that fully reflect what the question demands. There are

6 marks here.

When answering the question on motor starters it always assists

if the candidate has actually LOOKED at contactor design and knows

how to sketch one, albeit in a line diagram form.

Marks are lost for incoherent answers, lack of knowledge of symbols,

inability to do cable sizing calculations, inability to apply the adiabatic

equation, inability to do trunking and conduit sizing and in the last cases

the answer only has one point. All references must be included with

the tables used. These are only a few areas where marks are lost. There

are plenty more.
