28W HF 2D SWITCHING TV TO DVD

Funny one today at carehome doing PAT and Fire Alarm Test, report from owner that when they switch on or off a 28 Watt 2D HF light in the TV room it turns the TV over to DVD!

Checked it out and can confirm it really is happening.

Both on different circuits from same C U but are close to each other.

Suspect HF switching triggers remote control.

Any one had similar problem or suggestions?

I have come across a light awitch causing a TV to change channels before.

The infra red burst generated from the arc between contacts was the apparent cause. Standing between the TV and the switch improved matters, as did changing the switch from a cheap Ashley, to an MK.

Its a good one ! I suppose the HF is the suspect.

Are TV remotes all infra red or do they use some HF too I wonder.

Could try just shifting the TV a little.

Big flat screen on the wall, light on ceiling about 1 mtr away, neither moveable

Could you adapt the light shade to provide some level of screening??
