had a small job this week to extend the ring in the kitchen for a washer and dw and to connect a halogen hob and oven.customer tells me they had a new CU fitted 3 weeks ago so should be nice n easy;)CU was fitted with all mcbs and not an rcd in sight!

no certs for a change either ROTFWL

mustnt have done any testing at all, the socket circuit was on a 32a but was a 2.5mm radial (there WAS 2 wires but one was for the garage).

any ways i made sure the circuits i worked on were rcd protected and down rated the sockets to 20amp,and gave them a price to put it right.

sheesh some people eh?
A quick thought back to the the first post...

If the statement

"customer tells me they had a new CU fitted 3 weeks ago so should be nice n easy"

is true?

then I would immediately suspect problems ahead...

e.g.

1/ If the CU change had been done proper & the customer was happy..

they would have got the same sparky who did the CU to come back and do the other changes!

2/ The fact that the customer didn't re-use the original electrician..

implies either hes not a proper spark, or was crap and upset the customer,

or the customer thought something wasn't right about how th CU change was done?

IMHO 99.9% of the time if a spark does a good job...

they get called back for any future work! not changing to new sparks for each job!

:D
