Hello all.....

Now before u all start I know what you will say.. I will explain after...

How big will you expect a cooker cable to be on a 6kw oven?? In trunking rcd protected. Say around 20m distance.

Thanks boy and girls

10mm sq at least if the install method is 103, even if in trunking, however, does no take into account the volt drop or anything other than the CCC direct from the tables in 7671.

Else perhaps 6mm sq.

I have no idea of the installation methods or whether it is even wired in insulated & sheathed flat cable, which my 10mm above is based on.

However, Noz is also correct.

So, it can be seen from this that there is more to cable sizing than the current demand/OCPD CCC.

More info needed, sorry.

is it wired in twin?

any derating factors?

whats the install method?

whats the protective device?

i will have a go at the calcs old school as im still in the mood.

Not having a pop here Electro  but have you lost your BRB---BGB  or OSG  ?

Presuming its S/P

Presuming cable is not run through the inside of a furnace @ 1000 deg,C

Presume its not covered with 15 ft of lagging

Presume its T/E

Try 4.00   or 6.00  mm  after you've checked your books.

Lol it's not an actual question just a general rule when installing a cooker in a domestic house. Above was a example, I was making the situation up..

Ur average cooker is 4-6 kw ? Correct

So if you no the cooker is 6kw then how many of you would automatically think 6mm cable???

U and I both know that we know what cables to run for what it's needs... Depending on loads

10 socket 2.5 ring final

10aockets 4.0 radial

10 point lighting 1.0 - 1.5

The regs is to be followed I agree but to calc every cable size!! Bit silly When ppl with experience already knows

And so on

Again I have also wired a ring in 4.0mm I think I have even done it in 6.0mm b4..... Industrial unit
