Just a quick one !!

Got a little job ive got to install a shower circuit, shower i'm fitting is 8.5kw and the total length of run is only 10 metres it is going to be ran under the floor boards with no insulation under the boards nor in the studded wall.

I will be using a 40A CB protected by a 30mA rcd, water and gas is all bonded.

So which size cable shall i use?

Thanks guys

:)

As Binky said, 6mm is fine.

In theory, 6mm clipped direct is good for 47 amps (10.8kW), your shower takes 37 amps. Volt drop over 10 metres is only 2.7v so no problems there.

Using 10mm will give you space to upgrade at a later date if you wish - 10mm is good for 64 amps (14.7kW).

If you've got 6mm on the van then fine, if you've got to buy it then might as well fit 10mm for what the difference is worth

yeah and you need it :^O :^O :^O ;)

only joking pache,

;)

mind 10m is an absolute pita to terminate into most shower pull cords.

crabtree is the best on the market though.
