Been staying at the outlaws recently and haven't been home for a few days. Went back the other day to make sure everything was ok and I was met with a waterfall at the back door!! headbang

Turns out a plastic push fit tee gave up with the freezing weather and I'd decided not to leave the heating on because we're low on heating oilX(.

Carpets and laminate floors knackered and house insurance has run out, that'll teach me for being so tight!

Anyway merry christmas, think I'll have a few of these! :Y

similar thing happened to someone accross the road the other day. pipe burst in loft

should have turned the water off... (from someone who didnt turn off water and now has 4 bursts(that i know of) to fix when its better weather)

That's poo mate , but hopefully you have it all insured . Get s bottle or two down you snd things will seem better !

We're moving soon and TBH the flooring was past it's best so at least it'll look nice when selling! All ok now, heating on low and pipe fitting fixed so just hoping that nothing else goes pop while I'm away over Christmas. Cheers allGuinness

If you have got central heating why not have a frost stat fitted then at least if it does get cold the heating will only come on whne dangereously low and stops things from freezing up.

A friend of mine last year had been stopping at his girlfriends last january, he did not leave the heating on. He went home turned the hot water and central heating on, only for a valve or connector (not sure which tbh) to blow off his hot water tank in the loft. Ceilings had to come down, carpets up and down were ruined and it took until november for his insurers to sort it all out.

We have recently had our garage converted where the boiler is sited and have decided to keep the frost stat and the heating often comes on in the middle of the night so for me thats reassurance that nothing will freeze, ...erm hopefully touch wood! :)

Oh and the garage has been fully insulated with celotex and new floor with insulation as well.
