We had a very nice chap replace a bathroom fan and pull switch. Just concerned as when in the attic, I can see into the switch. Is this OK? I can't replace the insulation as it will enter the switch?

Looks like the screw on the left of the photograph is straight into plasterboard which is no good and wont last. Get the sparky back to fit it properly.

Never liked using the screw in plasterboard fixings when there are other options, it really needs a wooden batten in the loft and fix the switch to that it also spreads the load on the plasterboard

I know what you mean but the left hand screw in the photo doesnt even have one those either.

For a pull switch, not good, for the fan usually ok as nobody swings off that.

Getting back to the post, laying insulation over the hole is not an issue, unless it's vermiculite granules - not seen that for quite a while.
