Basically been learning from a couple of family friends since I was about 12 and at the age of 16 I had a fairly good understanding of most things electrical, so then to college to learn the rest of it and then to sit the exams at City and Guilds training Centre.
Oh I can feel the old can of worms about what actually qualifies you to call your self a sparky again ..........

:innocent :put the kettle on

But in all fairness well done to you.

You can be a sparky in 5 weeks Steps....... Not sure if you can actually call them sparkys though. I am intrigued to know how you qualified as a spark after just 2 years?
What do you mean 5 weeks?

There are people out there who have done a course in 5 days and call themselves sparks.

As to the your query about 2 years I know what you mean as we have an apprentice who went to a trainee provider for a year then came to us when he was 17 did another year on day release got his paper qualification and had his "apprenticeship" completed papers from provider.

Thats sort of what I've done, the practical learning with sparks that I know on and off for the last 3 years or so and college in between to get the paper qualification
