answers on a post card when i asked my apprentise why do you think it is important to earth incoming copper gas and water pipes.....

I know, I know as well, it is to stop them corroding as it is a new form Cathodic protection :)

Only kidding just in case someone gets here from a search engine.

 
Darn, I thought it was there to recover the kinetic energy from the gas and water flowing through your pipes, with the added bonus to save electric!! :eek:

 
To ensure you get a proper lethal shock if you touch something live while you are in contact with a pipe?
