Hi, i had a company called ratedpeople.com ring me up today trying to offer me work. Dont totally understand but looks like you buy customers details who need work doing. Has anyone here had any luck with it or another waste of money?

Im just starting up and only work im getting so far is word of mouth. Plan to do a massive letter drop with attached business cards weekend

Dan

My personal opinion is stay away

You are sent rough details of a job, if you want to quote you have to pay ??

A lot of the time the work is underpriced - ie...mr xx would like extra sockets in his living room / budget

Scam, all scams. When will people learn.

Also, I wouldn;t use a company whose name looks almost exactly like paedophile when you first glance at it, much like the hilarious confusion after reading the pronography thread on here.

Damn swear filters, well, I say swear, more like random word filter.

I think the people who run it get a lot of luck...

they make a killing on EVERY lead you pay for!

and are your quoting for jobs that dont actually exist ????? do you actually get to see the job ?? dunno

you get the phone number of someone so you can then go price the job

but from the customer side, who think 'ill go to a random website, give them my details and let some completely random people prce the job', instead of getting tg yellow ages out and calling a few local companies

Run Forest Run.

Leave well alone, you'll get the usual 2x leads that lead to sod all, because they are snide calls from the company just to tie the contract so you cant claim any money back due to no leads.

I've said it before & I'll say it again 118trades.com was the same as all these other sites...a scam pure & simple, made to make you part with your hard earned cash.

Just google for the forums that were set up because of the 118trades.com scam & the same director is still going under a different guise so I am told.

Save your cash is my advice.

Yes I learned the hard way

as with every 'advertising' company, if you havent heard of them, what chances have your customers got of using them.

only advertising people i ever deal with is those who i contact.

Thanks guys!!! this safed me get hooked!!!!! I also was thinking whether is worth it.

I had a call ages ago, got a free go a etc..... total waste of time. however..........................plumber mate how lives in london gets all his work through them, he thinks its fantastic, and now he gets repeat business and recomendations so no paying for the job. if i was in london i would think about giving it a go. try getting them to give you a free go and email you the discriptions through, see how many job opps you get a week, if its lots then may be worth a go
