Its always the leads that cause this error.

Had same trouble with mine at first, if you slip when doing loop readigs and take a probe off not getting a good connection this problem will arise .

It`s caused by interference when doing the test.

Sometimes, the neutral lead slips a little, mid test. If you press "up" when the err5 is shown, it`ll give you the reading anyway.

Ensuring good contact is generally the key here.

Thanks fellas, I tested with the plug in lead that comes with a moulded plug on the end, and also tested with the kewtech plug in with the red/blue/green leads plugged in but still the same, I will try the leads again and see whats occuring.

This error you are getting is caused by noise flowing in the cables, One way around it is to do a PFC test as long as an RCD isn't fitted, but instead of connecting the Neutral lead to the Neutral, connect it to the CPC. You must be aware that if you do not have a good Earth return path you could create a potential on the CPC, and it also does the test at 15 Amps. By pressing the rocker buttons when you get the error code will give you a reading but it is not very accurate, but as long as the reading is low you should be OK. All the Neutral lead does while doing a Z reading is monitor the Volts flowing down the CPC and when it rises above 50 Volt it terminates the test, this is the only fault I have with the Fluke meter because it does Evey Z test as though there is an RCD fitted and takes a while to do the test, this maximum Voltage can be set at either 50 or 25 Volts. Hope this helps CJS

Thanks CJS have one of these Guiness DrinkGuiness DrinkGuiness Drink and another Guiness DrinkGuiness Drink

NO it doesnt, thats a stoopid statement to come out with, it leaks current across N & E so as not to trip the RCD.

another stoopid statement, try pressing your F1 button and changing to a 2wire test.

sorry if this sounds bad,

but wrong/stoopid/misinformed advice is worse than NO advice/or comment at all.

but wrong/stoopid/misinformed advice is worse than NO advice/or comment at all. YER A BIT LIKE NOT USING BLUE SLEEVING ON THE BLACK CONDUCTOR FOR THE NEUTRAL IN THREE CORE still waiting for the regs page to confirm this CJS :D :D

Speaking of the phone number of Fluke UK. Anyone got the phone number to report faulty leads on me Fluke 1652 Multi?

Please.

No mate - No special contact. Just the number to report my faulty leads. :p
