I need help identifying a spider which was in my kitchen, its Black with cream/yellowish markings on its back and a yellow patch/spot underneath.

I've had a quick look on t'internet but most spiders on there are 'only not found in uk'

Its in a plastic box with the lid FIRMLY on, it keeps 'bouncing' up and down then plays dead.

Do i

  1. Kill it
  2. Set it free (a million miles from my house:D)
  3. Phone someone if its poisonous it deal with it

Btw i hate spiders:_|

Think i need a drink. :^O

Me dear ALL spiders have teeth and theoretically can bite. Larger spiders in the UK CAN BITE PEOPLE!

We have no indigenous poisonous spiders in this country but the bites can be unpleasant. Foreign spiders regularly make it into the country in fruit (bananas and grapes).

We all imagine the big spiders as the nastiest but the reverse is often true - little and deadly.

Kill it my dear - my professional advice (to be sure...)

:|

If its in a plastic box with the lid firmly on option 1 would probably be the eventual outcome.

It sounds like the common house spider to me but I am no expert.

She's a born worrier. Bless her. :D

She Thanks you for your input. :)

You avoided the temptation to post that Admin 2 had been bitten by said spider, was turning blue and you were going to take her to hospital

then saying

April Fool :)

Hmmm, it sounds like the merthyr tidvil tarantula to me, but I would have to see it to be sure. ;)

Its the Welsh Man Eating Spider, latin name Rhondda Taffyus Arachnidus, It use to paralyse miners underground and spend a month eating them. Now the mines are closed they have moved into homes and gardens.

Release it and run like hell. ; \ ; \ ;)

Spiders are just wrong. might as well kill them before they try to kill you
That's outrageous, remember a spider isn't just for Christmas, far too many people buy them for their children as pets then leave them by the wayside once they realise how much 4 pairs of socks cost.

my dad used to 'grow' spiders in the back of his allotment shed.... fatten 'em up and bring 'em home on Sundays for lunch....well we were too poor to buy a chicken and there was 8 of us...so we could have a leg each....
