Anybody recognise this fan / casing?

Looking to understand why the ventilation wasn't working in a flat today - found this concealed behind a ceiling panel in a cupboard. I couldn't find any markings on it and the electrics weren't connected to anything!

Not seen that before, looks like a transformer to supply motor / fan but the motor/fan has been stolen!!

Speed controller low medium and high speed. Permanently connected as high speed.
