The van ws from a well established dealer but not a vauxhall main dealer.Sorry to here that m8 couple of points..
1/ was the garage you brought it from a "Vauxhall dealer" who does sales & service, or just a general "vans of all makes" seller?
If a Vauxhall dealer (service & sale) I would think you have better grounds for expecting them to do full checks of "common" problems before resale...
But if a general "van" dealer they could more reasonably say, we don't sell many of those & we were not aware of problems.
2. you say Vauxhall are aware of this problem? can you get written evidence of this? either from Vauxhall or internet?
it may help your case?
As I said above, give them a call and explain your intended course. Also do not speak to any plebs there, go straight for the most senior person (If possible a Director) and remond them of their duty of care to the company. My solicitor has said that the van has been sold and is not fit for purpose and i can sue them and should get my money back.but advises on threatning them more before i go down that road as the costs will have to be paid upfront.
Guiness DrinkThe van ws from a well established dealer but not a vauxhall main dealer.Vauxhall said they are happy to give me a report and also point out that the fault does not occur over night and can take a good few months to actually happen, so when i bought the van it will of had this problem.

so im not sure what to do now as if i go to sue them and lost i would be even worse off and still have to get the van repaired out my own pocket
i might just buy a horse and cart
Good result that must be a huge relief.I bought my van from new and found out later that there was a design fault in the clutch.
I only found out when a friend of mine told me about it.
A month later the clutch went and I had it done on warranty, I thought I would have a full service (first one) at the same time, left the dealer
good to hear its all sorted. maybe they found this thread (stickers should be on your van...) and what you were planning to dowell i got a result, after a full day of argue'in on the phone they have stumped up and have already payed vauxhall in full
and im told that they changed the fuel pump last year so i have the new reliable fuel system going in.
and im off the antibiotics today so a few beers is a definate

First service involved all oil changes, gearbox, engine etc,I collected the van at 21:30 at night for those who do not know the 24 hour clock.for that price, i hope they used gold plated seat covers!
