To emigrate to australia.

what qualifications are needed and how much experience?

Is it possible to take the australia skills assessment if you have no qualifications or have part P?

If you have no qualifications don't think they would let you become an electrician.

If you have Part P then you still won't get a job because PART P IS A BUILDING REGULATION NOT A QUALIFICATION headbang headbang headbang headbang headbang

Yeah i know it's a regulation lol.

but i'm working with an electrician at the moment and all he has is part p, so he isnt a qualified electrician?

I am doing the 2330 at the moment and im on my second year.

After i qualify my 3rd year and have completed this, is this qualification enough to get me to aus?

iirc you will have a higher chance to get in the country visa wise with the qualification of an electrician but to get into the trade you have to retrain to aus spark quals headbang

Like the USA they have a specific set of qualifications that You need to have to become an electrician . Australia would probably accept your formal uk qualifications but to practice as an electrician in their country You would still have to train for their qualifications. I beleive that You can work with a qualified electrician as long as He/She oversees your work until you pass their exams of course . Just like being an apprentice all over again. Do the Aussies know how to make tea !!!! :innocent

we now have an Aussie member, maybe he will be along in a bit with more precise info.

I think you NEED to have formal UK quals, then pass a H&S, then you work under a sparks licence for a year or so until you obtain your own licence, Im not sure you would get a work visa that easy though if you cant show and prove experience,

NZ was something similar to the above.

Someone I know went over there last Summer.. as an electrician

He was not an electrician by trade.. he worked on the galv line for Corus. he had 2381 & 2391

He also had to prove experience; and that is where I came in... on his off days he used to help me out (if needed). He needed documentary proof of this, which I provided and it had to include the types of work carried out and tools used..

Initially he didn't have enough points, but then the points system changed and he got in no problem.. I think he had to do a year as a mate before taking a test to get certified
