That's a shame, i just bought a new lock off kit....... :_|

I think the statement that reads...... Replace or repair a socket, light or cable in any room ... could be misleading as replacement of existing cable runs is only exempt from B.C notification with the proviso that the same size & grade of cable is used and the same installation method is employed using the same route as the one being replaced.... non of this advice is given

This guide is intended for homeowners to do work in their own homes.
Well they should isolate and lock off just the same as any spark does surely. :C

Maybe so, but if its in their own hone, then there may only be one other person present.

Its not like on a site where you have all sorts of trades milling about, worrying about what everyone else is doing.

What he said! ^^

+3

Also they are quite clear on work that needs reporting to LBC, including replacing CU's

I suspect this is more about covering their a**e should trading standards ever get a complaint, much like the notices that are posted in store 6ft above the racks, "not our fault if customers do not read our terms

Could be an idea to get some business cards printed up with a note about part P and slip them inside the boxes for the CU's in B&Q and the other sheds (with your contact details of course).

i assume you mean asking permission of course from all the local stores ;) :^O :C

Actually, pay for one months advertising in their card thingie and then put the same cards for the next few years all over the store then claim that must have been one of their staff.

why?

i mean, its a DIY store. if they have gone and bought a new CU, then they have every intention of DIY, so your unlikely to get any work from it

Who will they call when they can't get the rcd to stay closed? And thats when you charge the "I've been stupid" rate.
