ah,

once more we come to the conundrum

one mans freedom fighter is another mans terrorist

one mans humour is another mans distaste

one mans language is another mans gibberish

one mans meat is another mans poison

one mans pleasure is another mans sin

one mans heaven is another mans hell

am I getting it across yet? :|

we all have differnent tastes and likes,

heck, any one that knows me well-ish will know that in english i apparently swear like there is no tomorrow [according to Mrs steptoe anyway], to me, its just normal language,

I dont speak to good english , esp when Im on the phone to old friends, or have a few lemonades in me,

my jokes can be very dark at the best of times, even blacker if Im in a dark mood from the past,

my point is, surely, even as I respect you Rev, and your beliefs, surely the belief of them all is to live and let live, ?

dont judge a man by his words, let him be judged by his actions alone..........

It seems a bit inconsistent to on one hand have filters to avoid swearing on the forum then allowing stuff like this.
is very much subjective,

many words I use my wife regards as swearing, whilst I merely denote them as common usage words,

are we defining swear words by the english oxford dictionary, or by a court of law?

I have defended my use of certain words in court previously.

Mrs Noz was a witness to an accident a while ago and had to give evidence at the court case. During her cross examination (defence lawyer trying to make her out as a criminal) she swore in her reply and was held in contempt of court (£60 fine IIRC)..

She is a country girl from the ROI where swearing is treated as part of the language however they didn't take too kindly to it  TBH it was a bit of a culture shock when I first went over there all those years ago. Unfortunately I think that we'll be over there again before the end of the week as her mother is dying - only 59 years old suffering from lung failure :(

very much so Noz, except that its not regarded as swearing,

only in England are words such regarded wrongly,

yet in England my wife uses words that i would regard never to utter and she doesnt think them so bad at all,

such is strange is language,

and yes, I do use such words in front of my 4yo so the wife says, but not in a wrong way, its just how I talk, apparently I use a lot of other words to him too that the wife has yet to work out what they mean, :C

she reckons sometimes when I talk to him I dont speak English anymore but for some reason I relax and go back to Ullans, and its only when other people are around I speak english again, :|

OK - let me just say that I'm not offended by bad language. I'm not offended by innuendo, I'm not even offended by the Irish in fact I like them. I'm not even offended by the graphic portrayal of bestiality that Prodave decided to put on this thread. It just bothers me that anyone can log on and see it. I know revsparks goes on here and his kids who are quite young may well be close by and personally I dont think its good to portray things like that even in jest and lines do need to be drawn somewhere. Nuff said. I will use de scoobing to mark disapproval of such things in future.

James,

I think you put your point across very well,

its simply not what you may/or may not find offensive,

you are considering what others may find wrong too, :Salute fair plays,

cant slate a man for having a conscience.

I'm not even offended by the Irish in fact I like them.
:D
