Hello all,

We have been asked to install a 20kw kit on a chicken shed . The shed has a automatic back up generator which kicks in as soon as there's mains failure . Does anyone know if the Pv system would do any harm to the generator our vice a versa the Pv system . Would the inverter recognise the frequency as dc generators are quite impulsing (up and down). I would connect post generator except it is 100m from the source . I have heard of relays are some smart box been used , is it necessary . Any help would be great.

Im fairly certain you would have to isolate the PV system from the generator feed if it is a feed in system, it will not be permitted to operate under conditions of grid loss,

you will have to backfeed the PV at source before any other install,

in actual fact, this is the only way that MCS can be complied with anyway, so if it is a grid tied system installed correctly then you will have zero problems.
