hi all

i been ask to look at extraction for a shower which is being installed in a bedroom it as to be fitted on a outside wall as the house only as a small soffit so not possible to put a in line fan type any ideas on a good qualty

one preff for zone one

thanks moose man

Ditto with Noz, last few I've done have been Manrose... it's just finding somewhere accessible to site the transformer kit.

custermer dont whan it going threw the foor manage to get a 12v fan from newys will move 90liters hole all ready there

they are have the boiler removed then placeing cubical in place

so i cud use the old flue just one question wht th best hight for best result its being fitted in zone one

As high as possible is the best height, according to the regs you can use an IPx4 fan in zone 1 so long as its RCD protected and deemed suitable for the environment!

How about any sockets in the room,,,, are they out of the zones?

thanks nozspark the fan is ip rated for zone as for the sockets they are 3mtrs away from zone one and all switches are outside zone to >0.6 mtr from zone 1 oo

the only problem i got is te cu is a wylex1361 type but they whant the board changeing at a laiter date

would the lighting have to be ip rated as they want downlighting not sure as this is the first time i have come acroos this type of installation in a bedroom

I always use IP rated downlights in bathrooms,,, the reason being that building regs state that you must not allow moisture laden air to enter the loft space!

You do know that any circuit within the location must have RCD protection!

noz does lighting not usually or usually fall in the zone due to height?

yes nozspark i have told them that there cu must be changed sooner then later. is the reg in part p if so were about sorry about spelling on last post wireless key pad playing up as for the downlights is it right because the bedroom contains a shower it as to be treated as a bathroom within the area

thanks moose man

Matty,

I've just had a look for you

Para 6.12, Page.40 of part C of the building regs for minimising moisture rich air into loft spaces.

701.411.3.3 of BRB for RCD protection

And as you know the regs say "rooms containing a bath or shower",,,, not bathrooms or shower rooms

.....and part P states that all applicable regs should be complied with,,, this comes under "Interaction with other parts of the building regs".... Page 5
