Hi,

I think this may have been discussed before but was wondering what supplier do you use and reasons why?

Thanks in advance for any replies

Cheers

My local neweys are great, but they know me and I spend a fair bit there

2nd is Edmundsons

I'me trying out a local independant soon but will probably just keep him for tenant work to start with until I suss out how good they are.

If I'm really desperate CEF but thats only after trying everyone else including SF

TBH it doesn't really matter where you get your bits..

The main things to consider are

Stock availability

Cost

The ability to deliver to site

Ordered in materials being delivered on time

Account availability

Invoice accuracy

I think that's about it, but if I've left something out I'm sure someone will add to the list

I'm quite a long way from any wholesalers so I tend to use these guys quite a bit.http://www.discount-electrical.co.uk/

Good customer and service and pricing which is up front unlike certain trade counter wholesalers with 3 initials I won't mention.
Have used these too in the past and can't fault them. Good lads/lassessGuinness

Electrfix (part of screw fix ) have just opened a trade counter near me, good prices and more stock than screw fix with no DIY'ers holding the Que up, you can also place your order by phone then collect , I ring and order at 7.30 am and collect a 8 , seems a good set up.

They also send out discount vouchers etc now and then, just had a

Screwfix, or elecrtifix I find are very expensive.

I suppose it depends on how much you spend with any given supplier.

I use a local independant now, after years with City and denmans.

Denmans I would not touch with a barge pole bunch of lying two faced people.

Be carefull with them, if you owe them any money, they will send in the dogsA

i use wilts personally but thats where my company use so i know them all very well and get good discount not to mention being there anyway.

I note the comments about Denmans from Greeny , I've used them for years but have noticed that as they have grown bigger , ( now part of Rexel-Senate, swallowed up Newey & Eyre and locally, Clearlight ) their credit control has become fierce.

However , at branch level , I get good discounts . There are four branches in B,ham which is useful, and they send a monthly catalogue which is useful for quoting.

I have just posted and to be fair the post is not informative in what has been going on.

So I will tell you the story Warts an all.

Couple of years ago I did some work for a Builder, plenty of work on the cards, my future, sort of guarenteed.

Problem, builder went bust, I paid for the materials.

First Builder went bust owing

jez GH, and I thought Id had it rough a while back.

good on you for having the moral high ground.

could we safely assume this is probably the part where "Denmans declined to comment" as they say.

I would just like to point out that the staff at denmans were and are very nice people.

I think it would be fair to say even the people I have spoken to at head office are just as nice, but if it goes to their legal team!

They even lie.

I have independant witnesses who can back up what was said, and they just deny that was ever said and if it was said, it was without their authority.

Blimey !!! Greeny was this recently ? I hear what you are saying . I have to say there is a small contractor at my branch who had a similar problem to you ,awhile back, but he always reckons they stood by him.

Deke

This is not the first time that I have been taken, I have been done about 4 times over the last 20 years.

This time it was a lot harder because the banks were reluctant to help out.

What really annoys me about the whole process is those who can afford to loose money and even write it off, always get paid, its the little guy at the bottom like me who does not.

I was advised to go bankrupt, but I could not bear the thought.

One guy who did some work for me is even smaller than I am, he needs the money, and I could not let him down, so I paid him.

Like I said I remortgaged to the tune of
