Can anyone recommend the best type of outside socket to use for this hot tub lead. Would I need rcd one or just normal one as hot tub flex seems to have rcd protection shown in pic. My consumer unit is rcd protected also. Was going to tap into an existing socket that has not been spured already. Plug has a 13amp fuse fitted.

I’ll be fitting a double external socket. I’ll have 3 plugs. One for hot tub, and 2 for decorative lighting for pergola. What would be the best option for the 3rd plug as don’t think outdoor socket would fit a plug adaptor.
Your decorative lighting plugs will probably be, "for indoor use only", in which case you need to put them in a protective weatherproof enclosure. Alternatively if they are just standard plugs you need an extra socket, not an adaptor.

Any normal extension lead. Both ends are in protected enclosures
The weatherproof box has a 4 way extension socket in it you just add a lead to the length you require and plug top and plug it into your outdoor socket

Yes plug it in stick the 4 gang socket in the box and plug in the lights or other devices you have and put the lid on it
Yes. It's best to plug the heavy load, (your hot tub), straight into the double socket and use the extension for light loads.
There is also room in the box for remote control switches, or smart devices to easily control individual lights, etc.

For smart sockets, just go on e-bay/ Amazon, etc, to suit your home network.

I fitted a new outdoor double socket for a customer last week....
and gave them links to one of these types of boxes for them to plug their decking festoon lanterns into...
( Back before Wilkinson's went into administration, they used to sell a nice outdoor weatherproof box for a standard 4-way multi-socket lead at less than £15!!! )
And like Binky I have a couple of them that come out at Christmas for various outdoor decorative lights..

If you already use any "Smart-Lamps" around your house they normally also do plug-sockets that can be paired up and controlled via the same phone app..
But the smart plug-sockets do need to be within range of your wi-fi router, (or boosters/extenders), which can sometimes be difficult if they are outdoors and quite a distance up the garden?!
Plus I personally am not too confident about leaving "smart sockets" in a outdoor weatherproof box, as damp, freezing temperatures, snow, condensation etc.. may not be the best environment??
If you don't need any higher-tech on/off control, a simple 24hr timer plug socket can also be used to turn a few decorative lights on & off at specific times:-

We have various smart lamps and plugs inside our house...
But I still use basic 24hr timer plugs for the outdoor boxes..........!

Just saying................. If you do have a voice assistant, yes you can get plug in "adaptors" that the assistant can operate, BUT you can only have 2 in a 4 way socket. It's not for reasons you may think.
The reason is they are too wide to put next to each other.
Just a note: You can also use sonoff units (connect to wi fi)
Want a sonoff unit Click me I use these instead of timers, although timers use a few watts, these are even less. (And don't need adjusting when the clocks change.)
