Hi guys I have a quick question.would you have to change the consumer unit on a tt system if it had 3036 fuses in place and you were introducing a new circuit or could you split the tails and install a smaller board?.If you put in a smaller board would that need an rcd or would you still rely on the main rcd before both boards?.

It is an old tt system I have had to do some work on the lighting circuit, also had to install new earth rod as the old main earth was terminated on to the main water pipe and have introduced a new radial circuit.Am i right in thinking that i use the existing main rcd for the lighting but put in a small board for the radial, thus saving the cost and the hassle of changing the board.

All depends what customer wants to spend. The minimum you have to do is ensure the work you do complies. So this would be ensure all bonds are to current regs and your circuit has 30mA RCD protection.
