Its easy to say you are good enough and a competent person prooving it is a different matter. Let me guess all those saying "you dont need to be an approved contractor to do industrial work " are not!! nuff said

The majority of people who work on industrial are working for sombody or for thr factory etc, i cant see som1 who has done it all there life suddenly changing and saying to there boss i think i better become niceic to prove to you i no what i am doing. My full apprenticship was in industrial/commercial working in places like bae systems to rolls royce etc and non of the people i worked with were niceic neither was the company we all worked for, some of the people who worked for it would probably make a niceic inspector scratch his head.

Its experience and competence that makes a difference not being niceic registered!!!

You would have no problems proving competence to work in these areas should anything go wrong if you are a time served electrician with the experience backing!!

The title was "can a domestic installer" not "can an industrial spark"

All I am saying is without experience get some backing and help, and check your insurance covers you!

If you are a good spark and NICEIC reg as domestic installer it does not cost much more to be fully approved. There is a lot more work and your ability is tested to a far greater extent, but if you are good at what you do what is the problem????

If however ,as I did for years, thought I was "good enough", there was a rude awakening when I found out I was not. There is a big difference between being able to do the job safely and being able to do it safely and correctly.

But as said, I am a domestic spark now!

Served my time in industrial.

I wouldnt pay for somthing i dont need, if and when industrial work comes up i will do it and issue my own cert (all legal) but as most of my work is domestic i have no need to be approved.
