Had no electric since 9am yesterday so candles out at 9 tonight again ffs. Apparently going to be fixed by Thursday. What a joke . . . still at least the genny runs the laptop

People disgusted with EDF for not telling them when power is back on, disgusted there is not a back-up system, comments about labour, comments about edf being french...

plenty people complaining there is no backup, but i can guarantee they will not want to pay extra on their leccy bill to pay for the backup to be installed/maintained!

I work for southern electric and cover most of the areas effected. Had people all day asking me what was going on and saying how disgusted by it they were. Got sick of telling them how can they expect edf to put them having power before the safety of their employees. Fire brigade didn't let them in to se the damage for a while for very good reason. The majority of people did actually see sense once told that!!

Biggest joke I heard tho was a lady this morning who'd spoken to Dartford Council and been promised it'd be back on by lunch time... phoned edf while I was with her and they couldn't even give an estimated time!

Fitting meters mainly. Single phase, three phase, embedded networks, new fixes. Nothing overly taxing really. Plus the occasional de-energising of cannabis factories!

Not the best job and the moneys a joke but it pays the bills for now and will be paying for my part p assessment very soon so can put up with it for now!

Yeah they are taking over a bit at the moment. In January they had I think about 7.8million customers, last time we were told it was over 9.2million. certainly going to keep us busy when they start fitting smart meters...

There is, unfortunately a lot of truth in your last line, aidanb19. But I just glanced through the article and it did made me smile that the photographs have the pleasant looking females sitting with the candles, and the male is 'at his Barbecue', is that a reflection on this country as well I wonder?
