Ok so my girlfriend has been learning to drive for ages and has her test in a few weeks time so for Valentines day I bought her a little car to get her about in

Nothing special just an M reg peugot 106

The thing is I bought this car off E-bay and went down to collect it, drives perfect, great condtion for age, everything works except theres one little thing I failed to test and the guy failed to point out to me, even though it was sold as seen........

THE BLOODY BACK DOORS WONT OPEN!!! haha :z :z:z

It's as if they are permanently locked and even when the latch is lifted up nothing happens, on either side!

Anyone any ideas? Simple case of remove door card and re-attatch something maybe??

(luckily theres no signs of weld!! : O)

maybe stating the obvious, but did you try from outside? (may have child locks)

can you feel and resistance in the handles? for them both to not open, its probably a bar been disconnected somewhere.

lol no definatly a 5 door haha, and andyc theres no resistance whatsoever.i will take the door card off tomorow and have a look

Have they been welded shut  ?:|

Might sound stupid, but these days you just never know!

Hopefully they havent though.

Just a quick question, how yuo going to get door cards off if the doors dont open????

Has the car got central locking with dead locking. Could be that the doors are dead locked and the wires snapped in the door loom. Happens all the time, just sort my zafira out with same prob (only 1 door mind).

Me missus had an L reg 106 years ago, and unless the design has changed significantly there is about 15mm band of steel between the door shuts and door cards.

It'll likely be the rod connecting the lifty uppy post type thingummy for locking/unlocking dropped off inside the door or something.

(gosh I sometimes amaze myself with my amazing grasp of mechanical terms)

this is proving to be abit of a nightmare, once door cards are off I can see two things

1. A bar running horizontally from the inside door handle, but then goes into the darkness to some sort of mechanism

2. A bar running from the door lock pin and this goes to what I presume is the locking mechanism

Nothing seems disconnected and I have tried pulling the bars to release the catch but not having no joy

I can see me having a trip to the scrappers for a pair of back doors :(

they had L reg 106 years ago?!
Oh yes, years ago they did have the 106 and t'missus had an L reg one. ; \And as for the Titanic, I knew a girl who claimed her granny went down on the Titanic. Turned out the writing in her granny's diary was hard to read. It said Saturday - Cup Final day. Went down on Titan FC.

It would seem odd that both doors have stopped opening. My bet is that the child locks are on but the lock mechanism have seized.

When the outside handles are operated does the connecting link seem to operate the lock? I'd have ago at empting 1/2 a can of WD40 into the lock mechanism from inside the door for each side and see if it frees it after a few hours!
