well not quit a "caravan site" but this guy has two American Airstream caravans in his garden that he plans to rent out as statics so wants a supply to each.

Pretty straightforward SWA burried to each caravan where there will be a bollard and a single outlet. Each supply will be protected by it's own 30mA RCD and 16A MCB

The question is what to do at the house end. Existing installation is a single DB with no RCD's and conveniently one spare way.

So the plan is 32A MCB in the spare way at the house end.

I'm NOT planning any RCD protection of the SWA. I don't think it's needed as SWA should be sufficient protection and it will be either surface mounted or buried in the ground.

So is that okay to not have RCD protection on the SWA cable, just individual RCD's for each caravan outlet?

Ah, I didn't check the supply type, will have to go back and check that. The CU is in a cupboard remote from the supply / meter and I didn't check.

I was trying to get each caravan with it's own RCD and MCB all at the bollard.

I've stayed on sites where all you get at the bollard is the MCB. If you (or another user sharing the same bollard) dare to trip the RCD you have to go and see the site warden to get him to reset the RCD at the source end.

My keeping the RCD and MCB together at the bollard I was hoping to improve on that.

If the cable does need RCD protection, would a 100mA RCD suffice?

100mA time delay would be best.

Out of interest. What's on the bollard? Is it a 16amp do Socket with a small CU inside the Van or is the CU on the bollard somehow?
I haven't sourced that yet.

You can buy purpose made outlets for caravan sites, but I doubt I will be using one of those.

Probably just an IP rated mini CU with the RCD and MCB and a single 16A socket.

Unlike a "normal" caravan site where each bollard serves up to 5 vans, there are only 2 here, but they are to far apart to be served from one point, so two seperate points needed.

You can get single point ones...

With plastic waterproof lift up lid over 4 ways (enough for 1 x RCD & 2 x MCB's), a 16A Ceeform socket and a brass plate on the bottom....

They also make posts for these to mount onto! (about 4' of galvanised angle iron with a couple of brackets on top!

............sorry, but I can't remember who make them ATM
