Anyone know a decent Carbon Monoxide Switch...

That is a Switch that operates when a certain Carbon Monoxide level is detected...

I DON'T need an Alarm... JUST a switch...

e.g. I could get an alarm with relay contacts...

such as this item.. or similar.

But I don't want an alarm sounder bit!!!!

Its for a basement garage under a bungalow..

Just want to switch on an extractor fan if carbon monoxide levels remain high after car driven in/out & doors have been shut!

But as said NO need for any audible alarm..

only need fan to switch on....

Thoughts anyone? :|

:C

Brian said me may want one to remove some of Deke's odours as well! ] :)

could you not butcher the sounder off and fit a relay?

the sounder (piezo buzzer) will just be soldered on to the board of a domestic Co alarm

so un solder and fit a relay with a coil rated at same voltage as the buzzer/sounder. take into concideration that the sounder maybe switched via semi conductor under low current so may need to buffer (pull up) the output

Interesting one, T-B.

I`ve not come across anything other than, as you said, a relay base.

However, if you bought a head for a panel system, there is no sounder; it simply sends a signal back to the board - which would be what you`d want. They yend to be cheaper, too (at least as far as smokies go.....).

I had considered doing a cut and paste with the old internal guts...

But don't want any later agro with device failing and warranties being invalid cuz I did a "Pimp My CO2 Alarm"...

:(

I thought there must be something out there.. but haven't found it yet... :(

But was only Friday last week customer asked.... so not in major rush.....

maybe someone else will know of other options?

P.S.

This basement garage is "Bloomin Big"

you can get 5 cars in it.... Yes thats 'FIVE'

the owner can drive his Range Rover in

and with the garage door shut still do a 3-point turn inside!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 :O:O

Hence there is a lot of dead space with NO air flow where fumes can gather...

Property is about 35 -40 years old...

I would guess that you couldn't build something like this nowadays without better ventilation!!!

ho hum...

But...

It is always nice to have a little fresh challenge you've not encountered before! :) ;) Guinness

Cheers mate... thats almost scoobylistious.. I think...

It stands a chance....

I shall send them an e-mail with my requirement..

See what they suggest?

(and what probable costs are?? ?:| : O)

If they can supply something, I could fetch it personally...

Less than 30mins from me home! :)

I will let you know what they say....
