just pricing up a PIR, but it is for a charity shop,

it is a 10way mem board, over 4/5 floors. only 13-15 sockets...

emg will be a LIM along with the fire alarm circuit...

trying to work out a price.. what would u say.. just cos it is a charity shop.. :pray

Possibly depends on the charity I suppose . I buy loads of 2nd hand books but always from Acorns which is a children's hospice . Even Aston Villa don't charge them for the sponsership on their shirts.

On saying that , it should be borne in mind that the workers in there will all be paid a wage, the landlord will be charging the full rent no doubt and the council rates will no cheaper than any other shop.

Thinking about it I think you should just put your bill in as normal to be honest .

4/5 floors eh, Its a days work , you have to charge for it . I save my charity jobs for old dears who are obviously struggling to make ends meet TBH.

thanks for ur advice.. i will put in a normal price.... there will be limitations which include - the fire alarm circuit will not be tested, the emg lighting gets tested weekly and logged, and IR on the lighting circuit will be between live/neutral to earth..

Its a bit like a job I went to years back as an apprentii . It was a place run by nuns , the sparks I was with was obviously RC and felt obliged to do everything for nothing . I on the other hand had no such feelings TBH , but they certainly took advantage of his feelings and hardly spoke to me, they seemed to know immediatly that I was not of their persuasion .

May have possibly had something to do with greeting the Mother Superior in my Brummie accent with " Orl roight Luv, ' ow yer doing " But who knows .

i do alot of work for charities, all shops are manned by volunteers, the only people paid are the ones that look after a few shops.

I dont always charge them what I could, popping in to change lamps and such like id never charge the going rate as it would be as much as they take in a day.

Some charities have a bit of money some have none it suprises me alot of these places are still going!

Lets be honest, you have to earn a living, people wont give you money to do good deeds it comes from your own pocket. Some charities are huge and pay some of their staff big salaries. I think you'll have to look on it a job by job basis. I'd probably come at them saying I can work it on a day rate for you, then I don't have to allow extra time in my quote. loosing profit but still hitting wages.

do you think they make big bucks?

do you reckon they pay any of the 'volunteers'?

are they local?

will they constantly hassle you?

will you get a little tingle of feelgood?

take these and a million other things into consideration, then put your price in.

Is it a charity you would happily give money to? If so, give them a great price.

We all choose which charities we want to support, but don't make the decision just because they want work done. They are the charity, not you.
