Also keen on cycling - been doing a lot of running but the bike is lower impact. Not keen on 'racer' style bikes ie dropped handlebars so I use a Kona Dew plus hybrid for road use. My other bike (recently aquired) is a Saracen Havoc. I am having some trouble with the gears at the moment. Don't suppose you know how to set them up properly?

I do, i have a workstand so i can micro adjust while pedalling by hand. If the problem is that the chain seems to be jumping at the rear sprockets as if the gears are not lined up although they seem to be in line, then it is likely to be time for a new sprocket (or cassette). This can be diagnosed if it seems to jump more under pressure. Fit a new chain at the same time.

the front sprocket won't stay on the highest ratio. It has the rapidfire buttons I tried tightening the cable but its too tight now like a guitar string! also rear wont go past the 4th or 5th cog... I bought it 2nd hand locally, its a MTB with triple yoke forks full susp and discs etc. It doesnt appear to have had a tremendous amount of use so I would be surprised if I had to replace gears and chain etc. Another problem is resistance on the rear wheel, It doesnt spin as freely as it should. I released the disc cable completely and it still sticks somewhere. The bike would have been about

Good pic, I would have liked to see video action to see if he was doing the reps in strict form.... I see a lot of people in gyms loading the bar to look good but they rarely do the actual exercise properly. However I would expect an athlete of his calibre to do it right, in which case, well done Hoy.... :)

In the end I took the bike to Evolution Bikes in Bangor, they spent an hr and went through everything even replaced a couple of cables, I went for a coffee and left them to it. I braced myself for the bill and thought I must have misheard when he asked for
