Hi,

I have been asked to disconnect a circuit in a shop which has 3 phase dis board then various single phase sub mains for different parts of shop. The shop is being fitted out next week and the owner has asked me to disconnect a make safe a lighting circuit. I identified the correct breaker in the board and am going back to disconnect next week (it's a lighting circuit btw)

I haven't opened the lid on the board yet but want to ask your opinion on the following.

It's all wired in singles through conduit. Disconnecting the line is easy as I've identified the breaker but how do I know the difinite neutral if they are not numbered or identified correctly. There flourescent strip lights so can't do a continuity test can I? What about opening the board up and turning the circuit on clamping the live and find the neutral with the same Reading as the line?

I know working live is a no no but anyone got any other suggestions.

Wanna make sure I do it 100% correct and make it safe.

Also would you terminate the disconnected cables into wagos as I'm not stripping the lights or cables out just making safe for them to get on with it.

Thanks in advance for any pointers or advice

cheers

M4

Maybe you`ll be lucky, and they`ll be marked up :pray :good luck:

This is one of the biggest issues I find; especially if the neutrals are not in the same order as the MCBs (and CPCs, when you need to test `em) headbang

M4tty , the method you propose should do it . You might be in luck ,a lot of sparks still tape the L&N together where they enter the board or in the trunking. This not working live is ballcocks TBH it has to be done. Thats to cover an employer's ass so if you get a right p****r they can say " we told you not to work live"

I would disconnect them at the board if other trades are moving in .
