Probably a relay somewhere or fuse in a daft place. Otherwise check the dip switch. Main beam OK?

Sorry, but I've got to say, have you read your sig recently. I got a set wiring diagrams for the expert (same van) via Google a while ago for when I was stripping the alarm and central locking out of mine. ;)

Anyway, what year and engine?

main beam does work ok as do the side lights

Hmm, further to that, doesn;t seem to be much info on wiring diagrams for any of those vans (Dispatch, Expert or Scudo). There is a wiring diagram for the later ones, and I believe the lighting wiring will be pretty similar. The diagram for the later (03-) models shows a feed via a fuse to the headlamp switch then the switched feed splitting and going via 2 fuses directly to the lamps so no relays used for those. If both lamps are out then it would appear to be either the fuse feeding the switch (which I doubt as I think it feeds all the lights) or the switch itself.

From what I can gather (assuming they are the same switch) terminal 5b is the switched feed to the dipped lights and terminals 1a, 1b and 2b are the feeds into the switch.

I think your best bet is to whip the switch off and give it some inspection. Just done the same this morning on a Clio with no fog lights, dropped the cowling off and the wire for the front fogs had fractured and fallen off. Might be worth popping down the breakers and grab a switch so once it's in bits you can substitute the switch as it could well be an internal fault on the switch.

If you give me an email address I'll send you the diagram I was working from as the forum won;t allow me to attach a 2 page PDF.
