I am doing my COMPEX in about a month.

If anyone could help me out with some COMPEX study material such as old question papers I would appreciate it. I will also be happy if anyone could give me information regarding the practical parts.

I always like to prepare myself well for courses and try to do my best, that is why I am asking.

not many here who do compex stuff. mostly seems to be surrounded by secrecy

and posting the same thing multiple times wont get you an answer any quicker

I presume you are an electrician or Instrument tech?

Where are you doing the course about?

What industry are you in?

I used to know loads about it, but the last time I did my CompEx was about 10 years ago and I have retired and forgotten most of it since.

However what I can pass onto you is make sure that if this is your 1st time doing CompEx it would be worthwhile committing things like the following to memory before hand, because your brain will go even more into overload if you don’t.

T1 to T6 temperature classifications

Gas Groups

Zones

Main methods of protection, Exd, Exi, Exe, Exn

For the practicals they use to use Hawke 501 Universal SWA glands, make sure you can make SWA glands off in your sleep as the practicals used to be tight on time.

Over the years I did the course about 6 times.

As I say my info might be dated but I doubt the basics would have changed.

If you are struggling for the above study info, PM and I will see what I can put together.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Thanks a lot Roys. I really do appreciate. I will send you a PM.

And yes I am an electrician and this is my first time doing compex

Aside compex, is there any other certification for electricians working offshore in hazardous environment?

First Aid

Off shore survival

Probably HV operations course

You still haven’t told us the background to these questions
Ooops….sorry about that..

I am electrician presently working offshore on an FPSO in Nigeria

I am looking to better myself as well as make myself open to opportunities when they come

I have done all of the courses you mentioned (First Aid, Offshore survival etc.) as these are compulsory for offshore here.

The compex certification is not compulsory here but I think it is a step in the right direction for me..so I strongly intend to take the course
