Seems a useful forum, have another query, not about led lights.

I am building a PC, probably using an athlon board. I am clear on all the parts except power supplies.

There are so many and i do not know how to choose. Do i just pick one??

yep, I am a noob and even need help buildin the PC, got that, and most parts, but suggested power supplies seem expensive.

any low cost ones?

dont scrimp on the power supply, if it goes wrong then it can and probably will fry the rest of your stuff,

and get something with [perhaps] a 20% buffer of more than you need.

The size of power supply required, depends on what is going in the system, If it's all singing all dancing power hungry gaming machine with a beasty graphics card then you need a high rated psu. If you give us some more specs on what is going in then we will be able to help you decide.

I'm NOT saying get this one but the this one from Maplin will give you an idea of what you might get on a psu. Assuming modern components then a MINIMUM would maybe be 2x SATA for the HDD and the DVD. Then a 20+4-pin and a P4 4-pin for the motherboard. The graphics card might well need it's own power feed too. See what your components need and match to the psu.

Give us your specs on the parts and you'll get plenty of help.
