got a rangemaster to fit soon, 15.6kw, does anyone know if these come with flex cable?

i come across a fair few ovens and hobs wired in twin and earth, is this the norm?

thanks

i've never known them to come with a flexand yes most i see are connected via twin and earth

however heat resistant flex would be my choice
what i normaly use, but what size for this beast?

Can diversity be applied to this cooker?AndyGuinness
cant find anything that states otherwise, and at 15.6kw i would hope so

Instuctions will tell you4mm my guess,,,, maybe 6mm at a push
6mm max for earth 10mm for L N it says so i was thinking of using twin

diversity takes it to 28 amps so that rules out 2.5 flex

Local wholesalers near you by any chance?AndyGuinness
its coming with there kitchen, could have a look see if anyone sells them local.

Whats the wall connection ???

correct cooker connection unit ???

you didnt say you had seen the job .....

I was just thinking that you could buy the cable after seeing the clamp type etc.AndyGuinness
not a bad shout that mate

putting new switch in and moving it as it will be above the new oven and a connection unit if they have not got one, the old oven and hob are still in so not much to see till its all ripped out

I fitted one of these today, a 900mm Rangemaster all electric with a rating of about 15KW

Shame the customer didn't do his research first as the existing cooker point is only 6mm from a 30A MCB. I told him the feed really needs upgrading, but it's a long and tortuous route to pull a new cable so he declined. I have warned him if he tries using both ovens and several rings together the MCB will trip, and of course I refused to uprate the MCB without uprating the cable.

Anyway to answer the question, the input terminals are behind a panel on the back and are two very large stud terminals, easily capable of taking 10mm twin & earth which is what the cooker really needs. No cable is supplied. The cable clamp is designed for flat cable and easily capable of accommodating 10mm T&E. The connection terminals are some of the best I have seen in a cooker for a long time (but that's not hard as some of them are utter carp)

thanks for that, this is on a 6mm 32 amps mcb, considering putting on a 40, then 10mm cable, i read on here people dont like 6mm on 40.

however according to diversity 30 or 32 mcb should be fine

How close in tolerance/VD is the 6mm cable with diversity tom?AndyGuinness
just under 28 amps with diversity.

its not a long run 5m roughly
