Been to look at a job today, lady wanted a shed putting up, went into the kitchen for a cuppa and to discuss terms and noticed the cooker switch was directly over the hobs. Now i know that it has to be within 2 meters of the point of utilization but i cant find a reg stating it cant be over the cooker, because in my view this would be a very dangerous place to locate it.

OSG says within 2m but not directly above it (App.8.4 pg 160).

Ian.

OSG mentions BRB reg 536.2. Anyone got a BRB to check it (Don't have one with me).

Ian.

at the CU? would take half an hour to move the hoover, ironing board, shoes, fridge freezer etc just to get into it lol :)

Try common sense really. I bet the switch was there first and our friends the kitchen fitters sited the hob below it.
It was a relatively new kitchen come to think of it...

went to a job a few weeks ago to replace a damaged socket. Asked where CU was.... in the kitchen in the corner under the unit. Fridge has to be removed for access. and its awkward to remove due to laminate only going a little under the front of the fridge

Also noticed Cooker switch was immediately next to CU. Cooker is arrpox 1.2mtr away from switch
