Trying to get a ball park figure for a rewire on a 3 bed bungalow in Wales. Recently bought a home in Aberystwyth which apparently needs a electrical rewire. Could somebody give me a possible price as to cost. Thanks in anticipation and

Best wishes from,

Gibson.

The above sounds a simple question to answer, but it isn't, how many sockets and lights and smoke alarms are required to name but a few. If you read on, no one can agree, and the OP still needs to get at least 2 quotes by someone who has visited site. The OP never responded.

Thread locked but great example.

Gosh. That’s a really tricky question to answer.

as a very rough guide use £60 per switch , light and socket, £500 for the fuseboard. Then you need to consider smoke alarms, extractor fans, cooker circuits, outdoor lighting and sockets, garage or shed electrics …. CAT5 points, telephone points, aerial points.

It’s bound to be more than you expect, but done properly and once is a huge asset to your property

I think you should draw up a rough spec and get people to quote , so you can compare figures. Plus you will need to arrange a plasterer, if they don‘t, and decorating

a rewire in Wales means part p and you should expect the installer to provide you with an electrical installation certificate too

hope this helps

6k seems a little high. In North West I usually say 5-5.5k for an average rewire.
I did say start at 6k and deviate,
We don't know the layout or spec of the job,
It's a ball park figure, some people would think 3k is expensive for a rewire, some would find 10k acceptable, even in the NW.

and to add, specify you want neutrals at light switches and 35mm back boxes too

And an all RCBO board, so much safer and should only cost about £100.00 more.

Could also consider quinetic which will save lots of labour
