I believe the regs say you can't enclose connections in a wall e.g. inaccessible location. Is it ok to do so with maintenance free connections, e.g. crimps?

What do you guys usually do if you end up needing to extend a cable, say half way down a wall where you don't want a blanking plate to end up.

I got the end of a reel of cable yesterday and had run the cable all the way through the house and it was short by about 3 meters. So I crimped and extended where it will be plastered over.

you can use maintenance free connections. i.e crimp, solder or push fit

if i need to extend a cable, its usually crimped & heatshrinked

also, make sure the cable is still in a safe zone if your extending it somewhere else

Why not do the joint before it is in the plastered wall?
Words of wisdom from Sir Batty......

he does do nice Tea & cake on Mondays you know! ;) :x :Salute

Hello SL how you doing.
Had a busy week...

I had mentioned to one or two others via PM that my eldest son got his Duke Of Edinburgh GOLD award and the official ceremony was this week..

I was his Guest of Honor down at St James Palace on Tuesday in the presence of 'HRH Duke Of E' himself and presented by special guest Ben Fogle.

So I am one helluva chuffed parent, as you can imagine!

:Salute :x

Works good...

Obviously not booming with economy the way it is but still ticking nicely..

Been and seen another new customer this evening..

verbal quote..

Got job doing it Mon 4th April!

Always happy when I get new jobs..

even more so with NEW customers!

Hope you are doing good? :)

Congrats on your sons award you must be well pleased great when your kids are doing good. I have been flat out since before xmas three new houses and another builder has had about five jobs on the go. Most are now ending so I have got time to do the paperwork and get weighed in hopefully. Don't have many big jobs coming up but hopefully will price a rewire up and get that to keep me going until builders get busy again. Thats been the problem have been too busy to price up jobs so may now suffer for it. Glad your doing ok.

Congrats on your son's D of E award . The Duke must have been very proud to meet you !! :Applaud
Oh.. he was....

He log's on the forum regularly you know....

If you are up-on-your forum user names you will know who he is..

but he only logs on about once a month!

;) :innocent

And cuz I was wearing my Forum logged polo-shirt & matching lace panties...

he did ask if I also though that "Brian" is really Sidewinder under a pseudonym???

I said I'll Ask Deke/Sandra/Deke he'll know!

well Admin knows his user name, because of the Buk-Palace IP Address!!!

 :D
